Venezuelan brand Santa Teresa tapped Pearl Fisher for the design of the decanter housing Bicentenario Ron Ultra Anejo, a €500 rum. The crystal bottle is produced by Mexico-based glassmaker Nouvel.

Bicentenario Ron Ultra Anejo is the first ultra-premium rum from Venezulan rum purveyor Santa Teresa. The Crianza Bicentenario (Crianza is the ageing method developed to preserve Santa Teresa’s oldest and most exclusive rums) is a blend of rums that are aged for a minimum of 15 years, with the final blend matured for at least 12 months. It has notes of toasted wood, leather, tobacco, dates and almonds on the nose, and cocoa, vanilla, clove and dark caramel on the palate.

Pearl Fisher tapped for primary packaging design

The rum comes in a bespoke bottle dreamed up by brand design agency Pearl Fisher. Made of crystal, it is manufactured via semi-automatic production by Mexican glassmaker Nouvel, a division of Pavisa group. Two different sizes were developed, a 700ml weighing 1kg and a 750ml coming in at 1.05kg, says the supplier. The bottle features the brand signature “Cruz de Aragua” on the shoulders and is decorated with sandblasting and organic gold. Zamak was chosen for the stopper (Bostocap).
