Opening the aperture: a vision for Inclusive Design

Designers are taught to focus on end users, to put aside their own preferences and ideas. At our best designers develop deep empathy for the end user. Sadly, this is not always the case, we can find many examples where unconscious bias appears to be at work. Women are 73% more likely to suffer a serious injury in a car crash. Some design teams are all-male and historically have tested with crash test dummies that are based around the average male form. It is possible that the mostly white, male, wealthy design world has sub-consciously encoded and reinforced bias.

This talk outlines a vision for Inclusive Design: Include those traditionally excluded from the creative industry, leading to an explosion of creativity. Brands connecting with more consumers and driving significant business impact. Jeremy will outline Diageo’s approach to Inclusive Design and discuss opportunities for broader cross-industry collaboration.

Regenerative Procurement : Overcome the unexpected, shape the future. Embedding ESG into Procurement

Regenerative Procurement : Overcoming the unexpected, shaping the future by embedding ESG into Procurement”. As an interface with the supplier ecosystem, the procurement function is a major contributor to risk management and to meeting and exceeding ESG objectives. To achieve this, the procurement function’s operating model needs to evolve in order to integrate a systemic ESG performance approach, built with the supplier ecosystem and internal steakholders.

Neurodesign for luxury: Exclusive scientific knowledge to shape perceptions

The decisive influence of design (of a product, an ad, a point of sale, etc.) on the perceptions and behaviors of a target audience has been amply demonstrated by scientific research. Drawing on methods from cognitive neuroscience, recent research has led to major insights into how multiple design elements influence consumer reactions at all levels: attention captured, emotions aroused, thoughts and beliefs evoked, sensory perceptions, purchasing behavior, etc. Based on the results of cutting-edge scientific studies carried out and centralized by ‘Mind Insights’, this presentation will show how various specific design elements can be used to automatically activate perceptions relating in particular to the concept of luxury/premium. It will offer an overview of these many fascinating and often unsuspected influencing phenomena, delivering valuable and exclusive insights (not available anywhere else) to shape consumer reactions in the luxury sector.
