PUSTERLA 1880 AND JAMES CROPPER won Best Sustainable Packaging Solution and People’s Choice Award with their Ruinart Second Skin Case..

PAPTIC won the “Special Jury Prize” for its Luxury Polybag, a high-end alternative in recyclable materials proved extremely interesting by the jury.

CLOUD BEAUTY INNOVATION HUB won the best sustainable packaging solution with its STONECO-TECH™.

Stoneco-Tech is a breakthrough of packaging material. It’s composed 70% CaCO3 (calcium carbonate), which can be commonly found in stones and rocks. It results in high resistance to water, temperature, acid acid-base, and active chemicals.

In the category dealing with responsible business initiative, TOKUSHU TOKAI PAPER won the award with its Kami Lab, a systematic and complete sustainable solution, which takes sustainability into account from papermaking to finished products.

NATE PACKAGING

The stick was developed to help the formulators build new formulas out of water and alcohol bases without drying out during the life of the product. This stick can be filled as a bottom or top filled package to allow versatility in formula development.

FAVINI Srl

Favini Srl won the award with its BIO+ VAGHEGGI packaging. In a fully sustainable concept, this cosmetic line has chosen the Shiro Alga Carta, a unique ecological approach starting from the use of the detrimental algal blooms of the Venice lagoon, in partial substitution of cellulose fibers. Else, this packaging uses no varnishing, no glue, no additional leaflets or labels: the pack itself is a writeable surface.

Category 1: 2 ex-aequo winners

NATIONAL PAK

NATIONAL PAK won the award with its compostable Stone Massage Oil Packaging, made of fully biodegradable material.

The material is made by compostable bamboo fiber mixed with CCBM, a fully biodegradable material. When place into a particular conditional soil, it will take approximately 3-6 months to complete the degradation that will convert into carbon dioxide and water. It contains no harmful substances and zero pollution to the environment.

NATIONAL PAK

NATIONAL PAK also won the award in the sustainable initiative category. As a packaging company, they constantly educate their team about the daily environmental issues. The company set up an Environmental Protection Working Group to promote environmental protection policies.

By making this project, every company member got a better sense of how they should be part of making a difference in helping the world to have less unwanted, single use packaging materials.

The packaging industry experts awarded this year’s LUXE PACK in green Awards to Golden Arrow for their luxury molded fiber packaging created from bamboo and bagasse which subsequently eliminates the use of thousands of tons of plastic packages.

QUALIPAC

The award for the best packaging solution was given to Qualipac, part of the Pochet Group, for its makeup holder “L’essentiel”.
• A container that encourages sustainable consumption
• L’Essentiel is ultrafine, lightweight and recyclable
• Qualipac has chosen a bio-sourced, resistant mono-material designed for everyday use
• Packaging flexible: each section can be simply and quickly individually replaced, thanks to an innovative recharge system.
• L’Essentiel comes with a “Paletbox”, designed to organize all the colour harmonies.

The jury liked the reduced environmental impact at all stages in the product life cycle; each aspect has been optimized while also offering simplified use. “It was also designed for use on the move or in one place, making l’Essentiel more than just packaging, but a real object”, added jury member Jean-François Roucou.

VERESCENCE

In the corporate social responsibility category, Verescence won the award for its CSR approach “Glass made to last”. It is organized around 3 pillars: People First, Act for Society & Eco Solutions.
The jury wanted to emphasize the maturity of their approach, which is perfectly organized. The figures, vision and ambitions are carried through to every level in the company – from the shop floor to the general management.

Scheufelen’s Promobox “Dein Kräutergarten” is an innovative laminated board with grass content in a fiber composition.
It is produced from 2 substrates manufactured by Papierfabrik Scheufelen. Scheufelen is aiming to offer a more sustainable solution for a new generation of innovative packaging products, permitting premium printing and folding capability typical for high end SBS boards, while dramatically reducing the total carbon footprint of the overall product.

This solution permits brand owners to demonstrate their ecological awareness, without sacrificing their premium brand appearance.

James Cropper’s winning internal initiative is the installation of a 250KW Solar PV Array on the roof of their Burneside mills that helps generate clean, green electricity in a way that doesn’t compromise the special ecology or superb landscape of Burneside or that of
Cumbria in the UK.

SULAPAC

The SULAPAC company has been awarded the trophy in the best green Packaging solution category for its SULAPAC® Premium Eco-Packaging product. It is a completely new, fully biodegradable packaging material innovation made of wood and natural binders.
The company was founded in the early 2016 by CEO Dr. Suvi Haimi and CTO Dr. Laura Kyllönen. The innovative solution draws from their merited academic research work on the fields of bioscience and biomaterial development.
