Silgan Dispensing Accelerates Its Global Expansion Following the Acquisition of Weener Packaging

The integration of Weener Packaging at the end of 2024 marks a new milestone in Silgan Holdings Inc.’s strategy in the dispensing systems and closure solutions markets. The acquisition strengthens both its geographic footprint, industrial portfolio, and ability to support brands in an increasingly complex environment.

The acquisition of Weener Packaging at the end of 2024, following the acquisitions of Albéa Dispensing in 2020 and the WestRock group in 2017, confirms Silgan Holdings Inc.’s ambitions in the dispensing systems and closure solutions markets.

Today, the Group serves a wide range of sectors, including fragrance and beauty, as well as food, beverages, personal care and healthcare, and home and garden care products.
With revenue exceeding $6.5 billion last year, Silgan Holdings now operates approximately 124 manufacturing facilities across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. The Group is also one of the leading suppliers of metal containers in North America and Europe for the food industry and consumer goods markets.

For its Silgan Dispensing division, the integration of Weener Packaging therefore represents a major step forward, both geographically and industrially.
Europe now accounts for almost 50% of Silgan Dispensing’s revenue, with sixteen manufacturing facilities. South America has expanded significantly thanks to our presence in Colombia and Argentina, as has India, where we operate four wholly owned plants,” explains Guillaume de Demandolx, Chief Commercial Officer and Vice President Fragrance, Beauty & Asia Pacific.

This diversification is also a source of resilience for the company.
Business dynamics vary significantly depending on geography, the markets served by Silgan, and the breadth of our product portfolio. This diversity gives us real resilience over time. While the fragrance market experienced significant customer destocking in 2024 and 2025, Brazil continued to grow, as did the Home and Personal Care markets in Europe.

Anticipating new recyclability requirements

This growth is nevertheless taking place in an increasingly fast-changing regulatory and economic environment, particularly when it comes to plastics and recyclability.
To address these new challenges, Silgan Dispensing is continuing to develop solutions designed to support packaging circularity. The company has notably launched two fully recyclable platforms, one dedicated to airless systems and the other to 2 cc pumps.
Beyond product innovation, the Group is also leveraging the strength of its global manufacturing network to rapidly adapt its capacity and sourcing.

Acting as a partner

The geopolitical and economic disruptions of recent years have prompted Silgan Dispensing to significantly strengthen its approach to risk management.
Silgan Dispensing has learned to adapt the way it manages risk,” says Guillaume de Demandolx. “Our global supply chains, cross-organizational collaboration, partnerships with our suppliers, capacity sharing across our network, and experience across different markets enable us to anticipate evolving consumer needs and help our customers address challenges with greater confidence.

This approach is driven by one key ambition: to act as a true partner to brands, particularly during periods of heightened market instability.
Our business continuity plan notably focuses on securing the supply of key materials and qualifying alternative solutions that preserve the brand experience, product integrity, and compatibility.

Managing exposure to international pressures

Thanks to its international footprint and diversified activities, Silgan says it has been relatively well positioned to absorb recent tariff increases.
The situation can nevertheless create uncertainty and affect the competitive position of certain countries. The most significant issue for us has been the increase in aluminium tariffs in the United States,” explains Guillaume de Demandolx.
The situation in the Middle East also remains an area of concern.
It is creating real pressure on the raw materials market, which is likely to persist over time.
More specifically regarding plastic supply, Silgan Dispensing intends to leverage the scale of its European operations.

Our size in Europe allows us to maintain strong relationships across the entire value chain.
Through industrial consolidation, geographic diversification, and the development of more readily recyclable solutions, Silgan Dispensing aims to further strengthen its ability to support brands as their markets rapidly evolve, while securing supply chains and future packaging developments.
