ALBEA : Endless Kiss - The refillable, mono-material lipstick
A refillable polypropylene architecture designed to reduce material use and facilitate recycling
With Endless Kiss, Albéa has developed a refillable lipstick solution featuring its Rouge Green mechanism, made entirely from polypropylene. Already industrialised, the platform combines refillability, mono-material design and the premium standards expected by prestige and luxury brands.
A 100% polypropylene architecture
The cap, base and three functional parts of the Rouge Green mechanism, the guide, spiral and cup, are all made from polypropylene (PP).
This architecture differs from conventional mechanisms, which typically combine several polymers, including ABS, PS and PET, sometimes together with aluminium.
The mono-material design makes Endless Kiss compatible with PP recycling streams and anticipates upcoming European design-for-recycling requirements for 2030.
Switching to a 100% PP architecture also reduces the weight of the mechanism from 3.8 g to 3.4 g, representing around 10.5% less material for this part of the product.
Up to 10 refill cycles
Refillability is the other key principle behind the solution.
The cap and base are designed to be retained, while only the refill is replaced, for up to 10 cycles.
Over this lifespan, Albéa estimates material savings of 67.9 g, equivalent to a 62.3% reduction in material consumption compared with a conventional non-refillable solution.
A versatile platform
Endless Kiss has been designed to accommodate several applications, including lipstick, balm and concealer.
This shared architecture allows brands to standardise certain components, tooling and assembly lines across different product references.
The solution also retains the customisation, decoration and finishing options associated with premium and luxury packaging.
An already industrialised solution
Endless Kiss is currently in production for its first customer.
Designed to integrate into existing production lines, it can be deployed without requiring a complete overhaul of manufacturing equipment.
Using a single resin across the various components also simplifies material management during production and assembly.
Reuse and recycling at the heart of the design
Albéa’s approach is based on two complementary principles: extending the life of the outer case through refillability and facilitating end-of-life recycling through a mono-material architecture.
Refillability helps reduce the amount of material used over successive applications, while the 100% PP design avoids the separation challenges associated with multi-material structures.
A full Life Cycle Assessment is still required, however, to accurately quantify the CO₂ emissions associated with Endless Kiss.
