Sustainable Cosmetics: Eastman and Kolmar Korea Join Forces

Eastman and Kolmar Korea have formalized a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of sustainable solutions in the personal care industry. The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 22, 2026, marks an important milestone in the evolution of sourcing practices and innovation within the cosmetics sector.

Eastman, a materials science company, and Kolmar Korea, a leading provider of cosmetic development solutions, are combining their expertise to promote sustainable and biodegradable alternatives. The collaboration aims to meet growing consumer expectations as well as increasingly stringent regulatory requirements related to sustainability.

At the heart of the agreement is access to Esmeri technology, an advanced cellulose ester micropowder designed for color cosmetics. Developed to comply with strict European Union regulations on microplastics, this innovation seeks to deliver high performance while supporting the industry’s environmental objectives.
