B Lab Reinventing packaging: where premium meets responsibility

B Lab Reinventing packaging: where premium meets responsibility
Luxury packaging is undergoing a profound transformation. Today, premium brands are expected to deliver aesthetic excellence and consistency with their sustainability commitments, as well. Packaging has become a tangible proof point of that promise.

Meet Gabriele Tovaglieri, Sales & Project Manager at B-Lab.

B-Lab’ approach to this shift is very pragmatic: we help brands to evolve existing packaging into more responsible solutions and mantaining the identity and sensory experience that define them.

Rethinking Materials Without Compromising the Brand Experience.

A solid example of this is our work supporting brands in transitioning from traditional, multi-material packaging to plastic-free solutions.

This is not simply about replacing one material with another: it involves rethinking the entire construction of the pack - combining renewable and alternative materials such as paper and board, but also fabrics like silk, natural latex components, or engineered wood like MDF - depending on the functional and aesthetic requirements.

Each project is a balance between structure, materials, and finishing. We redesign internal architectures, simplify where possible, and refine details like textures, weights, and decorative techniques to ensure that the final result preserves the original look and feel.
The objective is clear: deliver continuity for the consumer, while significantly improving the environmental profile of the packaging.

At the same time, we are enhancing the way we collaborate with our clients through digital tools. We have developed a dedicated web app that increases transparency along the supply chain: clients can monitor their stock levels in real time and independently manage shipment requests for stored goods, from worldwide warehouses and to worldwide destination. This not only improves operational efficiency, but also gives brands greater control and visibility—an increasingly important aspect in today’s complex supply environments.

Balancing Regulatory Compliance and Creativity.

Looking ahead, the main challenge for the industry will be managing increasing regulatory pressure -particularly in Europe - without compromising creativity and brand differentiation. As requirements on recyclability, traceability, and material reduction become more stringent, the risk is a flattening of packaging solutions.
We are preparing for this by strengthening our expertise on materials and processes, working closely with our supply chain, and continuously updating our knowledge of regulatory developments.

In parallel, we keep investing in design and engineering capabilities, because compliance alone is not enough: packaging must continue to express value.

Ultimately, we believe that the packaging of tomorrow will be defined by its ability to combine responsibility, performance, and emotion. Our role is to help brands navigate this complexity and turn it into a competitive advantage.
