Technicaps Accelerates Its Industrial Transformation and Reinforces Its Commitment to Sustainable Innovation
For several years, Technicaps has pursued an ambitious investment strategy to strengthen its industrial capabilities and support the evolving needs of the premium packaging market. Over the past two years, the company has reached a new milestone with the opening of a 3,000 m² injection molding workshop, the modernization of its production facilities through the integration of new assembly robots, and continued investment in innovation.
This momentum is now driven by three complementary areas of expertise: thermoset materials, engineering thermoplastics and molded cellulose. This diversified approach enables Technicaps to address a wide range of customer needs while continuing to develop increasingly responsible packaging solutions.
"We will continue investing in material innovation, strengthening our production capabilities and supporting our customers in developing ever more sustainable solutions, without ever compromising the aesthetic excellence and industrial quality for which Technicaps is renowned," says Arnaud Revel, President of Technicaps. "In a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, our ambition is more than ever to be an innovation partner that anticipates market transformations rather than simply adapting to them."
Amid ongoing global trade tensions, the company also sees an opportunity to strengthen its relationships with customers. "More than ever, they are looking for reliable industrial partners capable of innovating, producing locally and securing their supply chains."
Today, Technicaps operates two production sites in France, employs nearly 90 people and generates annual revenues of approximately €14 million. Around 40% of its business is international, serving many of the world's leading beauty industry brands.
A Historic Expertise Built Around Cellulose
Founded in 1965 in Challes, in the Sarthe region of France, Technicaps has developed a unique expertise in the design and compression molding of cellulose-based amino resins. Using cellulose as its primary raw material, the company has mastered every stage of the manufacturing process—from material transformation and decoration to assembly—to bring its customers' packaging concepts to life.
"Specializing in the design of premium closure and packaging solutions, we are the only company on the market to offer a broad portfolio of sustainable products made from cellulose," says Arnaud Revel. "Our technology allows us to create a wide variety of shapes, achieve highly detailed high-definition engravings, deliver unmatched color depth and provide a distinctive 'cool-touch' feel. Combined with the material's natural density and metallic sound, these characteristics also make our products extremely difficult to counterfeit."
Beyond its aesthetic and technical qualities, this technology also offers significant environmental benefits. The resins used are composed of 40% cellulose and are 70% bio-based, enabling the production of high-quality components while reducing their environmental impact. According to the company, these materials also help extend product lifespan and significantly reduce carbon footprint.
A Renewable Raw Material
Cellulose is one of the most abundant natural polymers on Earth, accounting for approximately 35 to 40% of the planet's terrestrial plant biomass. Renewable and biodegradable, the cellulose used by Technicaps is sourced entirely in France from sustainably managed forests certified by PEFC and FSC.
Alongside its historical expertise in thermoset compression molding, Technicaps has also expanded its capabilities in engineering thermoplastics injection molding. To meet projects requiring complex geometries and high production volumes, the company operates a fully automated fleet of electric and hydraulic injection molding presses ranging from 100 to 320 tonnes.
By combining these complementary technologies while continuing to invest in its industrial capabilities, Technicaps aims to support brands in developing premium packaging solutions that bring together innovation, manufacturing excellence and environmental responsibility.
