Cosmogen, Pharma Cos, APC Packaging… What’s new on the packaging and formulation front?
From special effect makeup to 3D decoration techniques, read on for a roundup of the latest launches on the beauty packaging and formulation front.

Baralan: 3D decoration technique

Italian primary packaging manufacturer Baralan partnered with 3D printing specialist Stratasys and decoration expert ICA to introduce GP3DPRINT, a 3D decoration technology for cosmetic containers. The solution is geared to both glass and plastic packaging; a water-based paint developed by ICA exclusively for Baralan is printed onto the pack via Stratasys’ PolyJet technology, offering a wide range of colors, textures and designs. GP3DPRINT is said to eliminate the need for costly tooling and reduce production waste.

Pharma Cos: Special effects makeup

Italian makeup and skincare formulator Pharma Cos has launched a « special effects » makeup range comprised of pressed powders, lipsticks and loose glitter. Different types and dimensions of glitter are applied solely to the surface of the pressed powders, including highlighter, blush and eye shadow formats. The glitter is applied atop a textured, laser-engraved 3D surface, allowing for a high level of personalization. Pharma Cos explains that the glitter does not compromise the formula and disappears after several uses. The supplier applied the same technique to its bullet lipsticks, with a layer of micro-glitter covering the surface.
