[LuxeHome] The candle, an accessible accessory for luxury brands.

[LuxeHome] The candle, an accessible accessory for luxury brands.
Elegant, comforting, illuminating, sensorial… candles have become such an integral part of interiors the world over. It creates a warm and soothing atmosphere, and when scented, it invites a sensory journey often filled with memories. Even when unlit, it helps set an ambiance and adds a refined touch to interior design.

Its strength: it appeals to women and men alike, although men generally prefer woody, spicy or amber fragrances. Notes of cedar, sandalwood, leather, tobacco, musk, and vetiver are particularly appreciated, while sweet or fresh fragrances appeal to a more diverse audience.

The candle also has the ability to adapt to seasons, trends, and customer preferences. Leather scent is highly popular at the moment, but the freshness of fig leaves, the depth of orange sandalwood, and the aroma of orange blossom or white tea remain best-sellers for Bougie et Senteur. The challenge for creators is to combine timelessness and mystery to create lasting olfactory memories.

A continuing trend

The high-end candle sector is experiencing particularly strong growth, driven by a diverse range of producers, from large industries to local artisans. The Luxe Pack Monaco exhibition brings together manufacturers committed to the success of each project and dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and originality, thus preserving the timeless status of the candle.
For Cirier, a manufacturer with over 300 years of experience and known for the quality of its wax formulas, the candle represents accessible luxury. At its factory in Mortagne-au-Perche, it crafts scented candles for luxury houses, hotels, and restaurants. The company observes an increasing number of collections launched by premium brands. Because candles are still an excellent way of reflecting their DNA in an affordable way, and attracting a younger clientele. Candles are fully integrated into sensory marketing, as demonstrated by Glass4candles, whose creations are designed not only to decorate but also to evoke emotions and enhance brand identity.
Especially as successive confinements have led to the home becoming a benevolent sanctuary, in which the candle has perfectly found its place, bringing comfort and sensoriality to every interior.
“It’s a simple and effective entry point for brands looking to establish themselves in the home decor market,” notes Les Bougistes, which assists businesses in creating their own candles and scented olfactory products. “With a minimum order of 250 units, brands have the opportunity to test candles with their customers with a limited investment.”
As Bougie et Senteur, a private label manufacturer based in Grasse, highlights, the candle is an extension of a brand’s range. The key for the brand is to convey a message through a design and olfactory ambiance aligned with its identity.

A daily brand vector

The candle has evolved from a lighting object to a decorative object. According to all the manufacturers present at Luxe Pack Monaco, it can be placed in any room, including the bathroom. Bougie et Senteur, for example, has developed a candle that transforms into scented bath oil. The company also innovates by offering refillable candles and increasingly sophisticated containers (shape, color, personalization techniques).
Glass4candle focuses on candles made from natural ingredients and essential oils, placed in hand-decorated glass holders. This manufacturer is also perfecting the art of producing candles that burn longer and cleaner.
Les Bougistes, for its part, has invested in research and development to create new materials for containers, fostering extensive customization and supporting artisans committed to sustainability.
The French manufacturer Cirier, who has preserved and evolved its expertise while adhering to strict health and environmental standards, shares best practices to fully enjoy its candles. They recommend “ allowing the wax to melt evenly when first used and dipping the wick into the wax to extinguish it, to avoid smoke. The wick should then be cut between each lighting.”
For optimal use, Les Bougistes suggest lighting the candle with matches rather than a lighter. H Bohlmeier & Co, match manufacturers, confirm that using a match carries emotional, technical, and ecological value, “the quality and aesthetics of a cardboard box and wooden matches surpass those of a plastic lighter.” The manufacturer plans to present its latest innovations in packaging and customization at the show.
