Maison Linéa: A French agency where spirits packaging design comes to life

Maison Linéa: A French agency where spirits packaging design comes to life
Specializing in wines and spirits, the Cognac-based design studio opened its doors to Formes de Luxe to share both its creative processes and the latest trends in the segment.

Cognac, Place Jean-Monnet. It is in the historic heart of the city that Maison Linéa chose to set up shop four years ago. After several years in Angoulême, the design studio—a specialist in branding and packaging design for wines and spirits—is housed in a former merchant’s mansion. « We returned to Cognac to be closer to our suppliers and partners, » notes Karine Lagarde, Associate Director along with Cédric Raynaud. This was a homecoming of sorts for the agency created 40 years ago by Jean-Michel Jobit and also a way of telling a story to its foreign clients, who represent 50% of Maison Linéa’s portfolio.

In the entryway, photos of the team—around 10 people—line the wall. « We want to instill a family home feeling, » points out Lagarde. A showrooom space highlights the latest creations: the premium New Angoulême Gin, dedicated to New York (which formerly bore the name New Angoulême), a gin distilled and produced in the Charentaise town; Cognac Martingale, with its bottle and monogram taking the octagonal shape of the oculus from the facade of the Château d’Ars; and the bottle from the Distillerie Rémy Piron with its label in handmade flax fiber paper sourced from the Moulin du Verger.
