Zignago Vetro’s Commitment to Eternal Glass Recyclability

Glass can be recycled 100% and an endless number of times without losing its quality, provided that sorting and recycling processes are of high standards. Zignago Vetro, a leader in hollow glass production and a proponent of sustainability, incorporates recycled glass into its production.
However, the company is continuously seeking to reduce the ecological footprint of its industrial processes. In 2022, Zignago Vetro launched a unique recycling project in Italy, involving its clients and suppliers to enhance and improve the glass recycling chain. The company has implemented a collection system from its clients to source empty, broken, or damaged containers that would otherwise be discarded.
In 2023, leading Italian companies in the wine and food sectors joined the initiative, enabling the collection of several thousand tons of cullet annually. The Group decided to use the cullet as a raw material, driving the circular economy within the glass packaging industry. By reusing cullet, Zignago Vetro reduces energy consumption required for melting, lowers CO2 emissions, decreases the need for virgin raw materials, and minimizes waste.
These innovations in the wine and spirits sector are participating in the Luxe Pack in Green 2024 competition. They will be evaluated by a jury, with winners announced at the Green Awards ceremony on October 1st.
